Gambit have sealed their place in the DreamHack Masters Marseille's semi-finals following a convincing 2-0 win over Cloud9.

The second series of the day in Marseille started on Mirage. It was Cloud9's map pick, but the first half would have suggested otherwise as the North Americans struggled to exert mid control throughout the first half and went into the break down by seven rounds.

Now playing on the less-favoured Terrorist side, Gambit secured the pistol round following some stellar entry work from Dauren "⁠AdreN⁠" Kystaubayev in the B site. It did not take long for the Kazakhstani side to hit map point, thanks to three AWP kills from Rustem "⁠mou⁠" Telepov on a very weak buy from his team.

Down 6-15 and with no margin for error, Cloud9 strengthened up their defence and won nine rounds straight to force overtime. The teams cancelled each other out in the first overtime, but then Gambit upped the pace, taking four rounds in a row to seal the win and take the series to their own map pick, Train.

Gambit beat C9 in convincing fashion

The first half of Train did not have much history: Gambit set up a very tight defence and won 11 of the first 12 rounds as Cloud9 simply could not get any room to manoeuvre. It was only then that C9's offence came to life, with the North Americans winning the final three rounds of the half to keep themselves in the game.

But Cloud9's hopes would be in tatters shortly afterwards. Gambit came out of the break full of confidence and secured four rounds in a row to hit match point. Cloud9 still tried to mount a comeback similar to one on Mirage, but three rounds was all that they could muster as the PGL Major Krakow champions would not let the game slip away this time around.
